Tippo is now on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is the first mobile app Food Web has ever shipped, and it does one job well: it takes the tip-out math off paper and out of spreadsheets, and puts it in the pocket of the person closing the restaurant. The first 99 restaurants lock in $9.99 a month for life.
Tip management has always been a back-office chore done at the worst possible hour — after close, when everyone is tired, the floor still needs resetting, and the math has to come out right anyway. Getting it wrong costs money and trust. Getting it right, by hand, costs time nobody has.
What is Tippo?
Tippo is a tip pooling and tip-out platform for restaurants, bars, and hospitality teams. You set your house rules once — by role, by hours worked, or by custom percentage — and Tippo handles the rest: it runs the split, produces a clean tip-out report, and keeps a record that payroll and staff can both trust.
Until now, Tippo lived on the web. It still does. The mobile app is the same account, the same tip pools, and the same reports — just reachable from the floor instead of the office. Managers can close out a shift on their phone. Staff can see what they earned once the shift ends, without asking anyone.
One account, one set of tip pools — now on the web, iOS, and Android.
Why Food Web built a tip app
Food Web is Tippo’s technology partner. We build and ship the software; Tippo brings the restaurant expertise that makes the software correct. Neither half works without the other — a tip-out engine written by people who have never run a tip pool is a calculator with the wrong assumptions baked in.
That expertise has a name. Tippo was founded by Jenna Oosterholt, a restaurant owner who built the product she needed. We were introduced to Jenna by the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia (RANS), a Food Web partner. That introduction is the reason this app exists, and it is a good argument for why industry associations matter: the people closest to the problem know exactly who is living it.
The strategic reason is simpler. Food Web exists to help food businesses operate — commercial kitchens, bookings, payments, and the maps that connect them. Restaurants are central to that, and tip management is one of the clearest, most annoying, most universal operational problems they have. Building Tippo lets us hand restaurants something useful today, rather than something adjacent.
What you get in the mobile app
Everything Tippo does on the web, sized for a phone:
Instant tip pool calculations by hours worked or role weighting.
Front-of-house and back-of-house splits handled in the same pool, with the rules your house actually uses.
Audit-ready distribution reports you can hand straight to payroll or your accountant.
Tip-per-hour breakdowns so staff can see how a shift actually paid.
Historical tip records kept for payroll and for proper record-keeping around controlled tips and tip committees.
Real-time visibility for staff once a shift closes — which is usually where the arguments came from in the first place.
How much does Tippo cost?
$9.99 a month. The first 99 restaurants keep that price for life — a one-time lock, not an introductory rate that quietly resets in a year. There is also a 14-day free trial with unlimited staff, so you can run a real shift through it before paying anything.
That price is deliberate, and it is worth being explicit about why. Restaurant margins are thin — thin enough that a few hundred dollars a month of software is a real decision, not a rounding error. The industry has plenty of tools that solve a genuine problem and then price themselves out of reach of the independent operators who need them most.
Food Web’s position is that software should be reducing a restaurant’s operating costs or opening a new revenue line — not quietly becoming another fixed cost. Tippo is priced to be the cheapest line item on the bill and still be the one that saves the most hours.

Vendor-published pricing as of September 2026. Add-on prices sit on top of a base subscription, and billing units differ between vendors — compare the total, not the add-on.
The most revealing row is the last one. Most of the dedicated tip-management specialists do not publish a price at all — you fill in a form, take a call, and find out what your restaurant is worth to them. There may be good reasons for that, but it is a strange way to sell a tool to an industry that runs on tight, predictable numbers.
Tippo’s price is on the website, in the app, and in this post: $9.99 a month. No call required. And for the first 99 restaurants, it does not move again.
Ninety-nine restaurants lock in $9.99 a month, permanently.
How to get Tippo
Download it on the Apple App Store or Google Play, then create your account at tippo.ca. Setup takes minutes — add your team, set your split rules, and run your next close-out through it.
If you have ever recalculated a tip pool at 1am because the numbers did not tie out, this is the shift to stop doing that.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Tippo mobile app free?
The app is free to download on both the App Store and Google Play. Tippo itself is a subscription at $9.99 per month, and the first 99 restaurants keep that rate for life. There is a 14-day free trial with unlimited staff.
What devices does Tippo run on?
Tippo runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 15.1 or later), on Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later, on Apple Vision, and on Android. It also runs in any browser at tippo.ca, using the same account and the same data.
Can Tippo split tips between front-of-house and back-of-house?
Yes. Tippo splits by role, by hours worked, or by custom percentage, and front-of-house and back-of-house staff can sit in the same pool. You configure the rules once and Tippo applies them to every shift.
Does Tippo replace my POS or payroll system?
No. Tippo handles tip pooling, tip-out calculation, and the reporting around it. It produces clean, audit-ready reports you hand to payroll, rather than replacing the payroll system itself.
What is Food Web’s role in Tippo?
Food Web is Tippo’s technology partner. Food Web builds and ships the software, including this mobile app, while Tippo provides the restaurant operating expertise that shapes how the product works. Tippo is the first mobile app Food Web has published.
One more thing
This is Food Web’s first mobile app, and it will not be our last. Shipping to the App Store and Google Play is a capability, not a one-off — and now that it exists, it is available to everything else we build for food businesses.
