Free tool · Kitchen revenue calculator

Your kitchen has four revenue streams. Most owners rent out one.

This free commercial kitchen revenue calculator adds up all four. Kitchen time is only the start — equipment, storage and your dining room can each be booked separately, and they earn while you sleep. It takes about a minute.

Kitchen stations

Your core stream. Renters book a station by the hour, and you set one rate for every station in the listing.

1

A station is one work area a renter can book on its own — a hot line, a bake bench, a prep table.

$25/hr

$25/hour is a common starting point for a licensed shared kitchen. You can change it any time after you list.

20 hrs

Also lease a station full-time

One tenant, one station, billed monthly instead of hourly.

Four bookables, one listing

What you can actually rent out

Each one is priced on its own and booked on its own. Turn on the ones that fit your space.

Kitchen stations

A station is one bookable work area. List two or three and the same kitchen can host a baker at 5am, a caterer at noon and a sauce maker on Sunday.

Priced:
one hourly rate for every station, or a monthly rate for a full-time tenant.
Booked by:
caterers, bakers, packaged-food makers, meal-prep businesses.
Worth knowing:
you can require a paid orientation on a renter’s first visit.

Equipment

The machines that cost you real money should earn real money. Attach them to a session so the renters who use them cover their wear, power and maintenance.

Priced:
hourly, on top of the station rate, only when it’s requested.
Booked by:
renters who need one specialty machine and can’t justify buying it.
Worth knowing:
equipment turns a plain kitchen into the only one in town that can do a job.

Storage — four kinds

Dry shelving, refrigerated space, freezer space and a spot to park equipment. You publish how many slots exist and how big they are; renters book slots by the day or by the month.

  • Dry
  • Refrigerated
  • Freezer
  • Equipment
Priced:
per slot, per day and/or per month — your choice per type.
Booked by:
anyone who needs their stock nearby between production runs.
Worth knowing:
it earns on days nobody cooks, and renters who store with you rebook more.

Dining room

Seating is a second business. A hall, café or restaurant floor that sits empty four nights a week can host supper clubs, classes and private events instead.

Priced:
hourly, with a minimum booking length you set.
Booked by:
pop-up chefs, supper clubs, cooking classes, private parties.
Worth knowing:
you can note whether staff are present and how alcohol is handled.

No black box

How these numbers are worked out

Kitchen stations

stations × hourly rate × hours a week × 4.33 weeks a month

Equipment

booked kitchen hours × the share that add equipment × the add-on rate

Storage

slots × daily rate × occupancy × 30.4 days a month, per storage type

Dining room

hourly rate × hours a week × 4.33 weeks a month

The fee: Food Web takes 12% of a completed booking. Nothing to list, nothing monthly, nothing when your kitchen sits idle.

What's not in here: your own costs — utilities, cleaning, insurance, and the time you spend hosting. This is revenue, not profit.

Deposits: damage and cleaning deposits are held separately and returned to renters, so they never show up as revenue here.

A worked example

What a one-station kitchen earns on all four streams

One station at $25/hour booked 20 hours a week, equipment add-ons at $8/hour on 50% of those hours, 20 storage slots at $4/day, and a dining room at $30/hour for 8 hours a week. These are the calculator’s starting values — change any of them above.

Questions owners ask us

How the calculator works, and what it deliberately leaves out

Do I have to offer all four revenue streams?

No. Start with kitchen time if that is all you are ready for. Storage is usually the easiest second stream to add — it needs no scheduling and no supervision — and you can turn any of them on later without relisting.

What counts as one storage slot?

Whatever unit you want to rent: a labelled shelf, a wire rack, a cooler bin, a pallet space. You give the dimensions and how many exist, so renters know exactly what they are booking. Slots can all be the same size or vary with a short description.

Is 100% storage occupancy realistic?

It is the best case, and it is what the calculator starts with so you can see the ceiling. Slide occupancy down to 60–70% for a more conservative view. Storage tends to fill steadily and stay full, because moving stock is a hassle renters avoid.

Can I charge for equipment on its own?

Equipment is priced as an hourly add-on to a kitchen booking, so someone is always in the building while your machine is running. If you would rather have gear stored and picked up, that is equipment storage — billed per slot instead.

How accurate is the kitchen revenue calculator?

It is an estimate of revenue, not profit. It uses the rates and utilization you enter, applies the Food Web platform fee, and leaves out your own costs — utilities, cleaning, insurance, and the time you spend hosting. Security and cleaning deposits are held separately and returned to renters, so they never appear as revenue.

When do I actually get paid?

Payments are processed automatically and deposited within 48 hours of each completed booking, with the platform fee already deducted. Listing is free, and there are no monthly charges.
