Food Web Cookie Policy

Food Web Asset Mapping Inc. (“Food Web”) uses cookies and similar storage on foodweb.network and our other sites. This policy says which ones, and how to refuse the ones that are optional. Our Privacy Policy describes the rest of how we handle personal information.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a site stores on your browser. We also store one preference in your browser’s local storage, which works the same way for the choice described below. First-party storage is set by Food Web. Third-party storage is set by a company we use, such as Stripe, Google, or Meta.

Cookies that are required

These run because the site does not work without them. The banner does not turn them off.

  • Sign-in (fw_session). Keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only, so page scripts cannot read it.
  • Referral (fw_ref). Set when you arrive through a referral link, so the referral can be attributed. It expires after the period shown for that program.
  • Payment. When you pay, Stripe may store identifiers in your browser to take the payment and reduce fraud.

Your choice

The first time you visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject optional cookies. That choice is saved in local storage under the name cookieConsent on your device. We do not receive it as a cookie on our servers.

Accept allows the analytics and advertising cookies below. Reject leaves them off. You can change your mind by clearing site data for foodweb.network in your browser and choosing again when the banner returns.

Cookies that wait for Accept

  • Google Analytics. Measures how the site is used, such as pages visited. It runs only after you accept.
  • Meta. An advertising pixel, loaded through Google Tag Manager, used to measure advertising. It runs only after you accept. Rejecting cookies is how you opt out of that sharing.

The map is drawn by Mapbox. Displaying the map can cause Mapbox to receive your IP address and the area of the map you are viewing. That is part of showing the map, not an advertising cookie.

How this sits with the privacy policy

Optional cookies are the “sharing” described in the United States notice of our Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal information. To ask us to delete your account or other personal information, use the delete-account page.
