Executive Summary

# Dalhousie University Sustainability Capstone Projects (2023–2025) Over the last two years, Food Web has partnered with Dalhousie University’s College of Sustainability as a community client for their Capstone Program. Two cohorts of students worked closely with us to study the challenges and opportunities within local food systems.

## Year 1: Mapping Nova Scotia’s Food Assets (2023–2024) The first Dalhousie Sustainability Capstone team partnered with Food Web to explore how asset mapping could strengthen Nova Scotia’s food system. Through surveys, interviews, and a SWOT analysis of food asset maps across Canada, the students identified opportunities to improve collaboration and data sharing among local food stakeholders. They also attended the ACORN Organic Conference and co-hosted a community dinner that gathered farmers, producers, NGOs, and policymakers, helping shape Food Web’s early direction toward data-driven tools for a more connected and resilient food system.
