The short answer
Toronto has a farmers market running on most days of the week. Sorauren runs Mondays 3–7 p.m., Trinity Bellwoods Tuesdays 3–7 p.m., St. Lawrence Saturdays from 5 a.m., and Leslieville Sundays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Several move indoors for part of the year rather than closing altogether.
- It is a rota, not a Saturday Four of the city's best-known markets run on four different days, so “market day” in Toronto depends entirely on the neighbourhood.
- St. Lawrence opens absurdly early The Saturday Farmers' Market trades from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., and keeps different hours from the South Market building next door.
- Winter does not mean closed Leslieville moves indoors to the East End Food Hub between seasons instead of shutting down.
- These markets are long-established Trinity Bellwoods marks its 20th season in the park in 2026; Sorauren has been trading since 2008.
- Markets are the visible part On the map below, farms, markets and food nonprofits together outnumber the grocery stores in Toronto.

SourceThe trouble with searching for a farmers market Toronto has to offer is that the city has dozens, they are neighbourhood-scale rather than civic, and almost none of them run on the day you assume. A market three streets away may only open on a Monday afternoon. This guide covers which of the well-established markets run on which days, what hours they actually keep, which ones survive the winter indoors, and how the rest of the city's food network sits around them.
What day does each Toronto farmers market run?
| Market | Day | Hours | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| St. Lawrence Farmers' Market | Saturday | 5 a.m. – 3 p.m. | 92–95 Front St E |
| Sorauren Farmers' Market | Monday | 3 – 7 p.m. | Sorauren Park, 50 Wabash Ave |
| Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market | Tuesday | 3 – 7 p.m. | Dundas & Shaw, NW corner of the park |
| Leslieville Farmers' Market | Sunday | 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Greenwood Park, or the East End Food Hub |
The St. Lawrence Farmers' Market is the one visitors mean, and it is also the one most often misread. The Saturday Farmers' Market and the South Market building are not the same thing on the same clock: the Farmers' Market trades Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the South Market runs Tuesday to Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closes Mondays. A five o'clock start is not a typo; it is a genuine wholesale-hours market, and the selection at seven is not the selection at two.
That split — an early wholesale-hours market at one end of the week, late-afternoon neighbourhood markets at the other — is the most useful thing to understand about shopping in this city. A 5 a.m. Saturday start rewards arriving early and buying properly: the best of the produce moves before most people have had breakfast. A 3 to 7 p.m. weekday market is a different errand altogether, built for picking up dinner on the walk home from the subway, with fewer vendors and a narrower range. Neither is better than the other, but turning up to one expecting the other is the most reliable way to come away disappointed.
What are the neighbourhood markets like?

The weekday markets are a different proposition: smaller, later, and built around people walking home rather than driving in. Trinity Bellwoods sets up at the northwest corner of the park at Dundas and Shaw, every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m., rain or shine, with no sales before three. Its 2026 season runs from 5 May to 27 October and marks its twentieth in the park — it is run by seasonal part-time community volunteers, which is worth remembering before complaining about anything. Sorauren Farmers' Market takes the Monday slot, 3 to 7 p.m. in Sorauren Avenue Park at 50 Wabash Avenue, statutory holidays included, and has been trading since 2008.
Which Toronto markets run through the winter?

This is where Toronto markets get genuinely useful, because the good ones migrate rather than close. The Leslieville Farmers' Market keeps a Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. slot all the way through, but changes address: outdoors at Greenwood Park, 150 Greenwood Avenue, from 10 May to 25 October, then indoors at the East End Food Hub, 1470 Gerrard Street East, for the late-autumn and late-winter blocks. Check its published dates before setting out in the shoulder months — the market's own page is not entirely consistent about which months the indoor run covers, and turning up at a park in February would be a wasted trip.
The dates Leslieville publishes for its 2026–27 season are worth writing down, because they are more specific than the “year round” billing suggests: outdoors at Greenwood Park from 10 May to 25 October, indoors at the East End Food Hub from 1 November to 20 December, and indoors again from 28 February to 2 May. Read together, those three blocks leave a real gap from late December through most of February. Year-round is the ambition; the calendar is the thing to check.
The seasonal weekday markets are clearer: Trinity Bellwoods closes at the end of October and returns in May. Dufferin Grove's organic market is another long-running fixture and appears on the map below, but we could not load its site to confirm current hours, so treat its schedule as something to check locally.
What does Toronto's food landscape look like beyond the markets?
A market is the part of a food system you can see on a Tuesday afternoon. The rest of it — the farms feeding those stalls, the producers, the food nonprofits, the grocers — is spread across a city too big to hold in your head. Food Web's Asset Map is an attempt to put it on one page. In Toronto, grocers are the largest single category mapped so far — but farms, markets and food nonprofits together outnumber them, which is not true of every city we have mapped.

Every market named above sits on that map, along with a good many that this guide has no room for. Zoom in on your own neighbourhood and the useful question stops being “where is the famous one” and becomes “what is within walking distance on a weekday”. The Toronto food map page keeps a live view of everything recorded so far, and anything missing or closed can be corrected from the map itself.
The same guide exists for Ottawa and Guelph, both of which concentrate their trade into a single anchor market rather than spreading it across the week the way Toronto does.
Are you a Toronto vendor who needs kitchen space?
Market stalls create a predictable problem. The preserves sell out, a buyer asks where the food is produced, and the home kitchen stops being an acceptable answer. The next step is licensed kitchen time rather than a bigger table, and in a city with this many weekday markets the maths often works: one production day can supply three market days. You can browse commercial kitchens on Food Web or read how renting a kitchen by the hour works, though Food Web has no bookable listings in Toronto today. Locally, the spaces worth asking about are the ones already holding a permit and sitting idle: restaurants with dark days, cafés that close mid-afternoon, community halls and church kitchens.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the St. Lawrence Farmers' Market hours?
- The Farmers' Market runs Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 92–95 Front Street East. That is separate from the South Market building, which is open Tuesday to Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Mondays.
- Is there a farmers market in Toronto on a weekday?
- Yes, several. Sorauren Farmers' Market runs Mondays from 3 to 7 p.m. at Sorauren Park, and Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market runs Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. at Dundas and Shaw. Both are afternoon-into-evening markets aimed at people finishing work rather than weekend shoppers.
- Which Toronto farmers market is open in winter?
- The Leslieville Farmers' Market keeps its Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. slot outside the summer season by moving indoors to the East End Food Hub at 1470 Gerrard Street East. Its published dates have a gap around the turn of the year, so confirm before travelling in December or January.
- How long have Toronto's neighbourhood markets been running?
- Longer than most people assume. Trinity Bellwoods marks its twentieth season in the park in 2026, and Sorauren Farmers' Market has been operating since 2008. These are established community institutions rather than pop-ups, though they are largely volunteer-run.
- How many farmers markets are there in Ontario?
- Farmers' Markets Ontario, established in 1991, represents more than 180 farmers' markets across the province. That is the closest thing to an authoritative figure, since it counts association members rather than every market that sets up in a car park.
